Installation

Generator delivery and positioning is a vital part of the installation. The Generators are extremely heavy and once placed in position, are difficult to move.

Rigging Contractors are utilized to ensure the Generators are delivered, undamaged and supply adequate lifting equipment to ensure a hassle free delivery.

Prior measurement ensures that there is sufficient working space around the unit. Diesel Engineers will need to gain access to the Generator to perform the onsite services. It is also vital to place the generator on a level surface.

Once the generator has been positioned, the electrical installation may begin. This ensures that the correct routes and cable length are accounted for. Different size generators require different diameter cabling, and one also needs to make provision for council requirements. The cabling to the generator should be the same specified rating as the cable supply from the street box.

On completion of the electrical installation, measurements are completed to ensure that the generator will supply power to a balanced distribution box within the client’s offices. This is a vital component of specifying the correct size generator, and needs to be factored in from the outset.

The generator is commissioned and testing takes place.
